The first ski resort in Iran was opened as early as the mid-20th century and is located just a short drive from Tehran. As the oldest developed winter sports area in Iran, the Abali ski resort at the foot of Mount Damavand is considered the cradle of Persian skiing. With its gently sloping hills, the area offers ideal conditions for beginners, children, and ski schools. Various slopes in the high-altitude terrain are available for skiing and snowboarding.
