The Bardonecchia ski resort is located right on the French-Italian border, just before the well-known Fréjus Tunnel. The winter sports area gained fame during the 2006 Turin Olympic Games, serving as the venue for the snowboard competitions. The Bardonecchia ski area is divided into two sections: in addition to the area south of the town of Bardonecchia, ski slopes and lifts on the other side of the highway invite visitors to ski on Mount Jafferau (2,807 m). Shuttle buses are available for transfers between the different areas.
