The Le Markstein ski area is located in the Vosges. This compact winter sports area in Alsace, about 30 km as the crow flies from both Mulhouse and Colmar, offers slopes around the tree line. In addition to alpine skiing, there are opportunities for tobogganing, snowkiting, snowshoeing, and winter hiking. There is also access to a network of cross-country trails that extends from Schnepfenried via Le Markstein to the Grand Ballon.
