The Unterhütte ski area in the Bavarian Forest was located in close proximity to the Czech border. Skiing and snowboarding were possible in the Unterhütte winter sports area even in the evening hours thanks to the floodlighting system. According to a city council resolution, the ski area was closed and dismantled in 2023.
