A special highlight is night skiing, which has a long tradition in Speicher. This is where the first night ski area in Europe with floodlighting was established.

On the Birt, farmer Hans Rohner had the idea in the early 1950s to open up the slope between the Vögelinsegg station and Birt with a mechanical lift system. The Vögelinsegg-Birt ski lift was opened in 1958 and has been in operation ever since.

The ski area is easily accessible by tram, making it one of the few winter sports destinations with direct public transport connections. If you are looking for a charming, historic ski area, Vögelinsegg offers the perfect combination of tradition, skiing, snowboarding, and a natural experience.
